Nottoway County Jail Records
Nottoway County jail records are not held in a separate Nottoway-only jail roster. The county participates in the Piedmont Regional Jail Authority, and the Nottoway sheriff page directs jail custody users toward Piedmont Regional Jail. PRJ serves six counties and is the primary local custody facility for Nottoway arrests that require detention.
That split creates three records paths. The PRJ Offender Lookup handles current PRJ custody. The Nottoway County Sheriff's Office handles sheriff arrest, warrant, dispatch, and investigation records. The courts hold filed case records after the arrest becomes a court case. A person can appear on one system before the others update, so the right search often uses more than one channel.
Search Nottoway County Inmates
The PRJ roster is the first place to search for a person booked after a Nottoway arrest. PRJ's public text says the lookup searches an offender's location if the person is incarcerated at PRJ and under PRJ custody. It is not a statewide criminal-history tool, and it is not the VADOC prison locator.

The official client package still identified the main fields and controls that support PRJ's public roster. Nottoway County Inmate Profile
A PRJ inmate record may show booking and court data, but it should be read as a jail-custody record. Booking charges can change once the Commonwealth's Attorney files, amends, reduces, dismisses, or indicts charges in court. Nottoway County Custody Channels

Nottoway County Jail Facilities
The main jail contact is PRJ in Farmville. The two Nottoway-named Burkeville facilities are VADOC sites, so do not use PRJ's roster for ordinary state-prison lookup. That difference is central to accurate Nottoway County inmate records work.

Nottoway County Booking Process
A Nottoway arrest may begin with the sheriff, Blackstone Police, Crewe Police, Burkeville Police, Virginia State Police, or another agency dispatched through county E911. If detention is required, local custody routes to PRJ for intake rather than to a Nottoway-only jail. PRJ's history page notes that a later expansion added a modern intake and processing area.
Booking creates the jail record. Intake may include identity checks, search, property, health screening, classification, booking photo, fingerprint reporting, housing assignment, and the initial custody status. Nottoway General District Court lists Wednesday criminal arraignments, bond hearings, and video arraignments with PRJ, so the court and jail record can connect quickly after booking.
Nottoway County Jail Visitation
PRJ visitation is organized by housing location. Visits must be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance, calls are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and offenders get one weekly slot. Visits last up to 30 minutes with up to six visitors. PRJ requires visitors to arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and search.
